I am responsible for the personal information I hold on on my clients.
I use this information to provide therapy, manage appointments and payments, maintain appropriate clinical records, undertake professional supervision, and meet my professional, ethical and legal responsibilities.
Therapy is confidential. I discuss clinical work in professional supervision, where confidentiality also applies. I will not normally share identifiable information without your agreement, except where there are serious safeguarding or risk concerns or where disclosure is required by law.
I use secure electronic services for purposes such as email, cloud storage, video-conferencing, transcription and accounting. I take appropriate steps to protect client information and restrict access to it.
Where couples therapy sessions are video-recorded for professional training or supervision, this will take place with explicit informed consent. Recordings may be transcribed and are kept only for as long as they are needed for the agreed purpose before being securely deleted.
Clinical records are normally kept for seven years after therapy ends, unless there is a professional or legal reason to retain them for a different period. Financial records are retained as required for tax and accounting purposes.
You have rights over your personal information, including rights to access it, correct inaccurate information and, in some circumstances, request restriction or deletion. Where information is used on the basis of your consent, you may withdraw that consent.
If you have questions or concerns about how your information is handled, please contact me at marciapgamsu@gmail.com You also have the right to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
